Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support vascular services. The role includes pre- and post-procedure patient care, rounds, discharge planning, and coordinating with surgeons and the vascular team.

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioner with master's degree and NM license plus ANCC certification.
• Physician Assistant with CAHEA certification or equivalent experience and NM license.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons with inpatient and outpatient vascular procedures and wound closure.
• Perform admission history and physicals and coordinate patient care with physicians.
• Provide daily medical management of inpatients and round on hospitalized patients.
• Coordinate surgical scheduling and follow-up, including discharge planning.
• Triage new and existing patients by phone and review ancillary reports with physicians.
• Educate patients and review vascular studies to formulate treatment plans.

Summary:

Assists Physicians during vascular procedures/surgeries. Post procedure/operatively rounds on patients and manages patient care. Provides patient assessment/follow up in Vascular Clinic.

Job Description:

• Assists surgeons with inpatient and outpatient procedures and major surgery Closure of wounds
• Medical Decision Making Order and interpret lab and radiology results and formulate a medical plan of care according to protocols.
• Daily medical management of inpatients in collaboration with physician.
• Rounds on hospitalized patients
• Performs admission history and physicals
• Performs discharge planning functions, family case conferences and dictates discharge summaries
• Coordinate patient care and follow-up for vascular patients on the vascular service
• Coordinate with OR and CVL to ensure proper equipment and supplies are available for surgical cases
• Sees and evaluate new patients and completes history and physical exams and consultations in collaboration with physician
• Presents patient to surgeons and assists in formulating a treatment plan, ordering appropriate lab and radiographic studies and performs office procedures; such as suture & staple removal, superficial wound debridement
• Evaluate postoperative patients and routine follow up visits
• See same day patients when required
• Triage new and existing patients over the phone
• Return patient phone calls
• Handle prescription refills
• Review ancillary reports with the physicians
• Provide appropriate patient education
• Review vascular and venous studies with patients and physicians to formulate a treatment plan
• Review MRA and CT scans with physician to formulate a treatment plan Coordinate surgical scheduling to ensure maximum efficiency in surgeons schedule
• Performs other functions as required.

Additional Job Description:

• Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, ANCC certification required.
• Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required.
