Job summary

UNC Health Care in Raleigh, North Carolina seeks a hospitalist to provide professional medical services and leadership within Rex Vascular Physicians & APPs. You will exercise independent judgment, prescribe therapies, and educate patients and families. The role requires board certification in Internal Medicine and an NC medical license, with DEA and BLS/ACLS preferred.

40 hours weekly onsite. Active membership in Rex Hospital Medical Staff is required, and prior hospitalist experience is

• Provides professional medical services to patients.

• Consults and counsels with patients and families; provides health education.
• References patients to appropriate specialists to ensure multidisciplinary care.
• Documents medical care in the patient’s record and codes for billing.
• Supervises other medical professionals; adheres to medical ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional medical services to patients.
• Exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients.
• Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals.
• Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families.
• Refers patients as needed to appropriate medial specialists and other health care professionals to assure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided.
• Documents medical and clinical care in the patient's medial record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third party insurance billing.
• Supervises other medical professionals.
• Adheres to the principles of medical ethics.

Education Requirements

• Active member of the Rex Hospital Medical Staff, including meeting the Board Certification requirements. Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• DEA;MD
• BLS

Professional Experience Requirements

• Prefer prior hospitalist experience.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements

• Language Skills: Should be able to communicate proficiently in English.REASONING ABILITYHigh-level quantitative and qualitative reason skills are essential in order to diagnosis medical and clinical issues presented by patients.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSNorth Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification preferred. Board certified in Internal Medicine.
