Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking an experienced hospitalist to provide professional medical services to patients and to exercise independent clinical judgment. This full-time, onsite role sits within the Neuro Hospitalists team and involves coordinating care with a multidisciplinary staff.

The position requires Board Certified Internal Medicine, NC medical licensure, and DEA/BLS/ACLS credentials. The role features a rotating schedule and a focus on patient-centered care within a hospital

Qualifications

• Active Rex Hospital Medical Staff membership and board certification requirements.
• Board certified in Internal Medicine.
• DEA license and BLS/ACLS certification preferred.

• Supervises other medical professionals.
• Adheres to the principles of medical ethics.

• Provides professional medical services to patients.

• Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals.
• Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families.
• Refers patients as needed to appropriate medial specialists and other health care professionals to assure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided.
• Documents medical and clinical care in the patient's medial record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third party insurance billing.
• Supervises other medical professionals.
• Adheres to the principles of medical ethics.

Education Requirements

• Active member of the Rex Hospital Medical Staff, including meeting the Board Certification requirements. Graduation from an accredited school of medicine.

Professional Experience Requirements

• Prefer prior hospitalist experience.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements

• Language Skills: Should be able to communicate proficiently in English. REASONING ABILITY High-level quantitative and qualitative reason skills are essential in order to diagnosis medical and clinical issues presented by patients. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS North Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification preferred. Board certified in Internal Medicine.
