Job Description

This is a Full‑Time position (36 hours per week) located at the Glenview clinic, with onsite training at Lake Forest Hospital for a minimum of 30 days. Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 6:30 am‑5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound set‑up, following exam specifications, and demonstrates independent judgment as necessary.
  • Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure and makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Selects a transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to the prescribed area of interest, the depth of field and other test specifications.
  • Enters test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain a record of test results.
  • Moves transducer by hand over specified area of the body to monitor quality of images produced.
  • Produces images of internal structures and records diagnostic data.
  • Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
  • Determines physician orders and performs procedures accordingly.
  • Explains the test to the patient, instructs and assists in assuming the physical position for examination, and gives post‑exam instructions.
  • Maintains accurate QC logs and service records.
  • Appropriately utilizes the functionality of the Epic system within job responsibilities and stays informed of Epic system updates, implementing them into daily work.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ultrasound Technician Certificate from an accredited school.
  • Certified Registered Vascular Technician.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Physical Demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds.

Preferred:

  • Graduate of an AMA‑approved training program in ultrasonography.
  • Additional certification as a Registered Vascular Technician.
