Job summary

Maria Parham Health, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Vascular Sonographer to support diagnostic imaging at our Henderson, NC location. This full-time, non-exempt role features 8-hour day shifts, holiday coverage, and a focus on accurate ultrasound exams and compassionate patient care.

Under physician guidance, you will perform diagnostic ultrasonography, maintain equipment, document findings, and collaborate with radiology to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care for our community.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an approved program of sonography.
  • ARDMS or CCI registration or eligibility for vascular registry within one year.
  • State license to practice as a sonographer.
  • BLS certification.
  • Ability to meet requirements of departmental on-call policy.

Responsibilities

  • Receive patients, explain the procedure, and ensure patient comfort.
  • Provide patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic exams and routine invasive procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and organize the work area.
  • Keep accurate records, assist with scheduling, and ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Check requisitions for complete information; refer questions to the ultrasound physician.
  • Assist radiologist in invasive procedures with sterile technique and infection control.
  • Recognize structures on the monitor and distinguish artifacts from anatomy.
  • Apply anatomy and physiology knowledge to improve diagnostic results.

Education

Associate’s degree in sonography
State license to practice as a sonographer

How You'll Contribute

Under the general guidance of the physician/provider, perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures.

  • Receive patients, explain the method of procedure, and ensure patient comfort.
  • Provide patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and organize work area.
  • Keep accurate records, assist with scheduling, and ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Check the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested; refer any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure.
  • Assist the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines.
  • Recognize the significance of all structures visualized on the monitor and differentiate artifacts from anatomic or pathologic structures within equipment limitations.
  • Possess in‑depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, technical expertise, and the ability to improve standard procedures to enhance diagnostic results when needed.

What We're Looking For
  • Associate’s degree required; graduate of an approved program of sonography.
  • ARDMS or CCI registered or eligible for vascular registry and pass within one year of hire.

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Must be able to meet requirements of departmental on‑call policy.
