Job summary

Memorial Physician Practices in Henderson, North Carolina is hiring a Vascular Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and provide patient care. Ideal candidates will possess an Associate's degree and relevant certifications, including BLS.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved program of Ultrasound/Sonography or equivalent.
  • Must pass ARDMS test within one year for new graduates.
  • Able to meet departmental on-call policy.

Responsibilities

  • Explain procedure methods to patients and ensure their comfort.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment for diagnostic exams.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, organizing the work area.
  • Accurate record-keeping and scheduling for ultrasound procedures.
  • Assist radiologist in invasive procedures, following infection control guidelines.
  • Recognize and differentiate anatomical/pathological structures.

Job description

Job Title: Vascular Sonographer

Job Type: Fulltime, Nonexempt

How You'll Contribute
  • Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.
  • Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
  • Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
  • Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
  • Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested and refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure.
  • Assists the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines.
  • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and is able to differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations.
  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of anatomy/physiology, technical expertise and is able to improve standard procedures to enhance diagnostic results when needed.

What We're Looking For
  • Associate's degree required; graduate of an approved program of Ultrasound/Sonography or equivalent.
  • ARDMS Registered or, if new graduate, must be ARDMS eligible and pass a test in at least one area (e.g., Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment.
  • State license to practice as a Sonographer.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the departmental on‑call policy.
