Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Health is seeking a qualified vascular ultrasound professional to perform standard non-invasive vascular studies and assess indications and diagnostic problems. You will apply ultrasound principles, evaluate exam adequacy, and interpret results in the context of normal vascular anatomy and physiology.

The role requires ARDMS RVT or CCI RVS credentials, BLS, and a minimum two years of vascular-specific scanning experience with supervision approval.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited vascular technology/ultrasonography program preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• Minimum of two years vascular-specific scanning experience.
• Approval by supervisor to be considered for the position.
• Active membership in SDMS or SVU preferred/required.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard non-invasive vascular exams and determine indications for each test.
• Apply basic ultrasound principles to vascular studies and distinguish adequate vs. inadequate exams.
• Demonstrate knowledge of normal peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology and diagnose common problems.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for completing standard non‑invasive vascular exams, including knowledge of appropriate indications for specific vascular exams, understanding diagnostic problems in each case, and knowledge of normal peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology. Demonstrated understanding of basic ultrasound principles pertaining to vascular studies and the ability to distinguish an adequate from an inadequate vascular exam.

Additional Requirements

Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from an accredited Vascular Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Ultrasonography program is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Vascular Sonographers must have a minimum of two years of vascular‑specific scanning experience and approval by the Supervisor to be considered for this position. Current staff must have all consistent or mentor ratings on the most recent annual evaluation and no written reprimands within a calendar year at the time of consideration. Incoming candidates must have a minimum of two years of vascular‑specific scanning experience and acceptable references from prior supervisors or managers. Active membership in a related professional organization such as SDMS or SVU is required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

• Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS RVT) or by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI RVS) is required prior to hiring.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
