Job summary

The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Assistant to support licensed personnel in daily living activities for patients at 75 Francis Street. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility, and documenting findings in the medical record.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications such as BLS, CMA, or CNA. Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience: 0–1 year in patient care/elder care preferred.
• Licenses/credentials: BLS, CMA, and CNA certifications preferred.

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy.

• Helps with mobility and repositioning in bed or wheelchair.

Job Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition them in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

• Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] - Generic - HR Only preferred
• Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred

Experience

• Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong patient/customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
