Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking an on-site Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, measure vital signs, and document care in the medical record.

Under supervision of licensed staff, you will assist with bathing, dressing, mobility, and feeding, while communicating health concerns to nurses. This role requires strong patient service skills and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds with proper technique.

Qualifications

  • Experience in patient care or elder care preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy.
  • Completes documentation in the medical record as required.
  • Interacts with patients and families effectively.
  • Assists with bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
  • Helps turn and reposition patients and assist with transfers.
  • Reports health concerns to nurses promptly.

Job Summary Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions
  • Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
  • Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
  • Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
  • Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
  • Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
  • Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.
Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No

Licenses and Credentials
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred
  • Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred
  • Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred
Experience

Experience working in patient care/elder care 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.

Pay Range

$A $750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions.
