Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a vascular ultrasound technologist to perform and report vascular ultrasound and clinical evaluations as ordered by physicians.

You will conduct patient assessments, provide education about testing procedures and vascular disease, and deliver preliminary interpretations to the patient's physician. You will also maintain records, ensure equipment safety, and participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications

• RVT certification or eligible; must be achieved within 12 months from date of hire.
• CPR certification by American Heart Association is required.
• Background clearances: Act 34, Act 33, and FBI fingerprinting as per employment background checks.

Responsibilities

• Performs vascular ultrasound and clinical evaluations as ordered by physicians.
• Provides preliminary interpretation of vascular tests and notifies the referring physician.
• Maintains records in compliance with guidelines and HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
• Educates patients about testing procedures and vascular disease processes.
• Maintains and tests vascular lab equipment for accuracy and safety.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Performs and reports all required vascular ultrasound and clinical evaluations at a technical level as ordered by Physician.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts individualized patient assessment in accordance with ordered vascular procedure. Performs vascular testing utilizing testing/ultrasound equipment. Provides patient education regarding testing procedures and vascular disease process. (65%)

• Provides a preliminary interpretation of vascular testing completed. Determines and completes proper notification of the test result to the patient's physician and/or vascular physician. Maintains records in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements. (25%)

• Participates in educational activities for patients and in-services for both external/internal personnel and the community. Attends meetings as required. (5%)

• Performs maintenance, tests accuracy/safety, and reports malfunctions of the vascular lab equipment. (5%)

• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
