Job summary

Southeast Health is seeking a Vascular Access Specialist to perform PICC line insertions and manage complex vascular access in both outpatient and inpatient settings. You will apply nursing processes to assess and treat patients with vascular access needs, and provide education to patients and staff.

The role requires RN licensure in the state, PICC insertion competency, and ability to rotate on call during evenings and weekends. Certification as CRNI within one year is expected.

Qualifications

• RN license in current state
• Must complete PICC line insertion certification as per Alabama Board of Nursing (within 1 year)
• Must be able to rotate on call during evenings, nights, weekends
• Preferred: Advance Cardiac Life Support training

Responsibilities

• Insert PICC lines in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate vascular access care.
• Perform dressing changes and repair of vascular access devices.
• Declotting of vascular access devices as needed.
• Provide education and training to patients and staff on vascular access care and management.

Always the right career direction.**## **Job Description Summary**The Vascular Access Specialist: is primarily responsible for the insertion of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) in the outpatient as well as the inpatient setting. uses the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care provided to individuals with complex vascular access needs. actively accepts, understands, and practices appropriate standards of intravenous nursing. actively supports the mission, vision, and values of the hospital and department. performs various other activities related to vascular access including but not limited to repair of PICC lines declotting of all vascular access devices dressing changes to all vascular access devices provides education and training to patients and staff on vascular access device care and management.## **Job Description**### **QUALIFICATIONS:**Current RN license in the state Documented skill and competency in peripheral IV access and central vascular access devices Successful completion of the requirements for PICC line insertion as stipulated by the Alabama Board of Nursing Certification Requirement: Must obtain certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Infusionist (CRNI) within one year of date of employment. Must be able to rotate being on call during evenings, nights, and weekends.### ### **LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:**Must be able to read, write, and speak English Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of various education levels via written and verbal formats. Ability to conduct educational activities and presentations effectively to all levels of staff**SKILLS:**Successful course completion in Basic Cardiac Life Support Successful course completion of institutional Intermediate EKG Course Annual completion of competency requirements. Ability to function independently with effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills Successful completion of Advance Cardiac Life Support course (**preferred**).
