Job summary

IU Health in Indiana is seeking passionate, experienced nurses to join our vascular access program. The VAT nurse will perform comprehensive vascular assessments, insert and manage peripheral IVs/Midlines/PICC lines using ultrasound guidance, and respond to VAT consults across ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, Maternal Child Health, and ED.

Preferred candidates have VA-BC and at least 2 years of nursing experience with vascular access, proficiency in ultrasound-guided access, strong clinical judgement, and

Qualifications

• ASN required; BSN preferred.
• Active RN license in Indiana or NLC.
• BLS certification; additional ALS may be required by unit.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with vascular access preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive vascular assessments.
• Insert & manage peripheral IVs/midlines/PICC lines using ultrasound guidance and aseptic technique.
• Respond to VAT consults across ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, MCH, and ED.
• Monitor & troubleshoot vascular access devices for patency, infection, and mechanical issues.
• Educate patient & staff; maintain accurate documentation.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives; mentor staff on vascular access best practices.
