Job summary

UCHealth in Colorado's Greeley Hospital is seeking a PRN Vascular Access Nurse to assess and identify optimal access devices and perform placement when needed. The role emphasizes collaboration with the care team to tailor IV therapy to each patient’s needs.

Responsibilities include placing vascular access devices, documenting actions in the EHR, and educating staff and families while maintaining high standards of patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• 6 months of RN experience.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides vascular access services to UCHealth patients.
• assesses patient for appropriate vascular access device(s) in collaboration with patient care team to optimize patient care needs based on medications, access status, diagnosis, length of IV therapy, etc.
• Places peripherally inserted central catheters, midlines, ultrasound guided IVs or recommends alternative means of access; troubleshoots complications with vascular access devices.
• Documents vascular access information and actions in electronic health record.
• Evaluates learning needs of staff, patients and/or family and provides education; delegates patient care to ancillary personnel; may precept students, new hires, or providers.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking, decisive judgement and ability to work with minimal supervision; fast-paced environment.
