Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced pediatric registered nurse for night shifts (36 hrs/week). Responsibilities

  • Inserts and manages vascular access devices for patients.
  • Assesses patients' vascular access needs and selects device.
  • Maintains peripheral IVs, midline, and PICCs.
  • Monitors devices for infection, occlusion, and extravasation.
  • Provides education to patients and families on vascular access care.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop vascular access policies.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficacy of vascular access care.

Overview

36 hrs/week, nights, 7p-7a, every third weekend, holiday rotation. Pay to commensurate with experience. Benefits eligible.

Job Description Summary

Inserts and manages vascular access devices for patients undergoing medical treatments.

Essential Functions

Assesses patients' vascular access needs and determining the most appropriate access device.

Cares and maintains peripheral intravenous catheters, midline catheters, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs).

Monitors patients' vascular access devices for complications, such as infection, occlusion, and extravasation.

Provides education to patients and their families on vascular access care and maintenance.

Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement vascular access policies and procedures.

Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and efficacy of vascular access care.

Education Requirement

BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire, required.

Licensure Requirement

Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio, required.

  • Clinical skill and knowledge in the nursing care of children including normal growth and development and/or clinical expertise in specialized area, required.

Experience

One year post orientation related clinical experience in area of specialty, preferred.
