Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assesses vascular access needs and selects appropriate access device.
  • Cares for and maintains peripheral IVs, midlines, and PICCs.
  • Monitors devices for infection, occlusion, or extravasation.
  • Provides education to patients and families on vascular access care.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop vascular access policies.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficacy of vascular access care.

Job Description

Inserts and manages vascular access devices for patients undergoing medical treatments.

Essential Functions
  • Assesses patients' vascular access needs and determining the most appropriate access device.
  • Cares and maintains peripheral intravenous catheters, midline catheters, and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs).
  • Monitors patients' vascular access devices for complications, such as infection, occlusion, and extravasation.
  • Provides education to patients and their families on vascular access care and maintenance.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement vascular access policies and procedures.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and efficacy of vascular access care.
Education Requirement

BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire, required.

Licensure Requirement

Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio, required.

Experience

One year post orientation related clinical experience in area of specialty, preferred.
