Job summary

Carrollton Public Schools in Carrollton, MI, seeks a Varsity Wrestling Head Coach at Carrollton High School to lead the wrestling program, oversee practices, competitions, and staff, and promote athletic excellence, academics, and character.

The ideal candidate will have wrestling coaching experience, be able to plan safe, challenging sessions, mentor assistants, ensure eligibility and compliance with district, league, and MHSAA rules, and represent the district positively.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership to motivate student-athletes and coaching staff.
• Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategy, conditioning, and athlete development.
• Prior varsity wrestling coaching experience; head coach preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and required certifications (or willingness to obtain before season).
• Ability to pass background checks and work with students, parents, staff, administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction for the entire wrestling program, including varsity, junior varsity, and developmental levels.
• Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices that promote athlete development, safety, and competitive success.
• Evaluate student-athletes' abilities and provide constructive feedback to improve performance.
• Supervise and mentor assistant coaches to ensure consistency in instruction and program goals.
• Coordinate with assistant coaches regarding athlete development and program operations.
• Maintain accurate records, eligibility documentation, equipment inventories, and program communications.
