Job summary

Qualifications

Position: Varsity Wrestling Coach

Ravenna High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a coach for the Varsity Wrestling team. This seasonal position is ideal for someone with a strong background in wrestling, a commitment to athlete development, and a desire to foster teamwork and sportsmanship among student‑athletes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.
• Conduct daily practices and provide instruction on wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and game rules.
• Prepare the team for competition through effective training and conditioning programs.
• Organize and oversee team meetings, including pre‑game and post‑game discussions.
• Collaborate with the varsity coaching staff to align team goals and player development strategies.
• Monitor player performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of all student‑athletes during practices and games.
• Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and respect among players, coaches, and opponents.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
• Assist in the coordination of team travel and logistics for games and tournaments.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience at the secondary level (middle or high school) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wrestling fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student‑athletes, parents, and staff.
• Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained before the start of the season.
• Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games during the season.

Compensation

Pay based on REA 2023-2025 Master Agreement.
