Job summary

Plainwell Community Schools is seeking a Varsity Wrestling Assistant Coach (Boys and Girls) at the high school level. The position supports the head coach, coordinates staff, and helps implement training to develop athletes while promoting sportsmanship and character.

The assistant coach collaborates with the athletic director and principals, mentors students academically and personally, and assists with scheduling, travel, and compliance with school policies.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and willingness to learn new theories.
• Must serve as a positive role model for student athletes.

Responsibilities

• Has thorough knowledge of athletic policies and ensures their implementation.
• Understands regulations and interprets them for staff.
• Directs staff and coordinates with the athletic director/principal.
• Establishes the fundamental philosophy and designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings.
• Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth, attends clinics.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates assistants.
• Maintains discipline and handles grievances to increase morale.
• Assists in scheduling, transportation and tournament preparation.
• Prepares documentation for injuries and eligibility.
• Mentors student athletes on character and academics.
• Promotes preseason meetings and communicates with parents and media.
