Job summary

Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Marine City, Michigan, is seeking a dedicated Head Track & Field Coach to lead our varsity program for the Spring season.

The Head Coach will oversee coaching, practice planning, meet preparation, athlete development, and a positive team culture aligned with Catholic identity. CPR/AED certification preferred; background checks required; reports to Athletic Director.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of track and field techniques, training principles, and competition rules.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Commitment to student-athlete development both on and off the track.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
• Successful completion of required background checks and other school or athletic-association requirements.
• Commitment to supporting and advancing the Catholic mission of the school.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for the track and field program.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for student-athletes of varying abilities and experience levels.
• Plan and conduct effective practices, conditioning sessions, and team activities.
• Teach sound fundamentals and techniques across track and field events.
• Develop individual athletes and maximize their athletic potential.
• Establish and maintain a positive team culture centered on discipline, accountability, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
• Prepare the team for regular-season competitions, championship meets, and postseason opportunities.
• Coordinate meet entries, event assignments, transportation, equipment.
• Plan and conduct organized, age-appropriate practices and conditioning sessions.
• Teach and develop proper techniques across track and field events.
• Develop individual athletes while building a cohesive and competitive team.
• Establish clear expectations for effort, conduct, attendance, and sportsmanship.
• Supervise athletes at practices, meets, and team activities.
• Monitor student-athlete progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance, eligibility, and other required team records.
• Follow all school, athletic department, league, and state athletic association policies.
• Serve as a positive role model who supports the Catholic mission and values of the school.

Position Overview

Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and mission-driven Head Track & Field Coach to lead our track and field program. The Head Coach will be responsible for the overall development and administration of the program, including coaching, athlete development, staff leadership, practice planning, meet preparation, and building a positive team culture consistent with the mission and Catholic identity of the school. The successful candidate will be committed to developing student-athletes not only as competitors, but also as young men and women of character, faith, discipline, perseverance, and integrity.
