Job summary

Cooperstown Central School District seeks a Varsity Tennis Head Coach at Cooperstown Jr/Sr High School to lead the high school tennis program, developing players and building a competitive, respectful, growth-oriented environment.

The role covers planning and conducting practices, teaching fundamentals and match strategy, managing lineups, and communicating with families and school staff to support student-athletes on and off the court.

Qualifications

• Completion of NYSED coaching certification requirements.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• DASA Training.
• Concussion Management Certification.
• SAVE Training.
• Fingerprint clearance through NYSED.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct organized, skill-based practices and training sessions
• Teach tennis fundamentals, match strategy, scoring, and etiquette
• Manage player selection, match lineups, and in-game coaching
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and team travel
• Promote a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, effort, and academic success
• Communicate clearly and regularly with players, families, and school staff
• Coordinate with the athletic department and facility staff for scheduling and court access
• Ensure full compliance with NYSPHSAA, Section III, and district policies
• Maintain equipment and records, and track player progress throughout the season
