Job summary

Eugene School District 4J seeks a head coach for the 2026/27 season. Under direction, the head coach leads planning, development, and implementation of interscholastic athletics policies, regulations, and procedures, organizing and conducting athletic programs to meet district and participant needs.

The role requires knowledge of sport, compliance with OSAA/NFHS rules, ability to train and motivate athletes, supervise staff, build relationships with school and community, uphold HIPAA/FERPA

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience as a high school interscholastic coach.
• Must be at least 22 years old.
• OSAA coaching certificate per OSAA standards.
• Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
• Background check process required.
• Bachelor’s degree in physical education preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, development, and implementation of interscholastic athletics policies and procedures.
• Organize and conduct athletic programs to meet district and participant needs.
• Provide training and coaching through motivational techniques to improve performance.
• Supervise, direct, and evaluate subordinate personnel within the sport program.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with the community and school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA, and uphold educator ethics.
