Job summary

Norwalk Community School seeks a head coach to oversee a comprehensive sports program and guide student athletes with strong coaching experience and deep technical knowledge of the sport. The role emphasizes role modeling, safety, and character development.

The head coach reports to the athletic director and works with staff and principals to ensure high standards and program success. Ongoing development through clinics and practical coaching is encouraged.

Qualifications

Must organize and supervise a total sports program.
Must have previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
Head coach must have substantial knowledge of technical aspects of the sport.
Must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.

Responsibilities

Serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for individual and team success.
Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations.
Supervise a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals.
Assist in scheduling, transportation, and tournament logistics; ensure safety and compliance with policies.
Direct student managers, assistants, statisticians, and coordinate staff' professional development and performance.
