Norwalk Public Schools seeks an Assistant Coach for Varsity Boys Basketball at Norwalk High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports the head coach in game strategy, skill development, practice planning, and program operations, while promoting sportsmanship and academic eligibility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• CT SDE coaching certification is required or preferred.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification with First Aid/CPR/AED.
• Connecticut Coaching Module #15 certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
• Assesses players' skills and assigns team positions.
• Assists with developing a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time for individual and team development.
• Works with the head coach/athletic director to schedule facilities for practices and games.
• Instructs players on rules, equipment, and techniques; observes and identifies improvement needs.
• Contributes to ensuring athlete academic eligibility and adherence to regulations.
