BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper School is seeking a Varsity Golf Coach to lead the school’s inaugural golf program for grades 7-12. The coach will develop, organize, and oversee practices, match play, and travel, fostering skill growth and a strong academic culture among student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Previous successful golf coaching or instructional experience, preferably with middle or high school students of varying skill levels.
• Comprehensive knowledge of golf techniques, strategies, and rules.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Demonstrated commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and philosophy for the varsity golf program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success.
• Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices and training sessions that focus on fundamental skills, techniques, game strategies, and conditioning.
• Develop game strategies and tactics; make informed decisions during competitions to maximize team performance.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment with strong relationships and accountability.
• Prioritize academic progress, physical health, and emotional well-being of student-athletes; serve as role model.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with players, parents, and school administration.
• Ensure adherence to school policies, athletic department guidelines, league rules, and state regulations.
• Stay current with coaching techniques, rule changes, and best practices in golf.
• Accompany and supervise student-athletes during bus travel to and from off-campus practices and matches.
