Job summary

Key School is seeking a qualified Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach for the winter athletic season for the 2026-2027 school year. The coach will plan and attend all practices and games, communicate with parents and students, and work with the Athletic Department to support student-athletes.

The ideal candidate is CPR certified, available for all practices and games, and committed to fostering teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship while representing the school at IAAM and MIAA events.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and attend all practices and games (practices and games are 5 days a week).

• Represent the school at IAAM and MIAA Conference preseason and postseason meetings and collaborate with Admissions and College Counseling.

Key School is looking for a qualified Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach for the winter Athletic Season for the 2026-2027 school year.

The ideal candidate will support the Athletic program by helping students find the balance between individual achievement and the needs of the team, between broad participation and deep commitment to one sport. Key students value intense competition and honor good sportsmanship. The program seeks coaches who encourage inclusivity while promoting the students’ commitment to mastering skills, understanding tactics, fostering teamwork, and developing character.

The Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach manages the program within the framework of the Athletics Philosophy of the Key School.

The Coach will:

• Plan and attend all practices and games (practices and games are 5 days a week).
• Communicate with parents and students effectively.
• Attend meetings with the Athletic Department, the coaching staff, and the Director of Athletics.
• Organize and maintain all related equipment for the program.
• Head Varsity Coaches/ Program Coordinators will also serve as the school’s representatives at all IAAM and MIAA Conference preseason and postseason meetings and work collaboratively with the Admissions Office and the Office of College Counseling in support of our student-athletes.

Qualifications

Coaches are expected to be available for all practices and games and are required to be CPR certified (certification paid by the School). Key School is a member of both IAAM and MIAA.
