Job summary

Bath County High School in Hot Springs, Virginia, is seeking a Basketball Coach for BCHS Varsity Boys. The role reports to the High School Athletic Director and Principal and focuses on leading the basketball program, coaching varsity and junior varsity squads, and promoting the program within the school and community.

The coach coordinates schedules, budgets, equipment, and travel, works with assistant coaches, and ensures adherence to district policies and VHSL rules.

Qualifications

• Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know (must be renewed on an annual basis)
• Coaching courses as required

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the entire program including coaching varsity or junior varsity squad
• Supervises assistant coaches as needed 9-12
• Determines athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time
• Positively promotes the athletic program within the schools and the community
• Gives guidance to middle school coaches feeding into high schools
• Implements District athletic department polices
• Assists in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches as needed
• Works with the Athletic Director on game scheduling, contest officials, travel arrangements, and equipment
• Prepares budgets, equipment and supply requisitions; arranges athletic insurance; coordinates scouting
• Plans facilities or modifications; organizes middle school clinics; correlates practice schedules
• Maintains staff relationships with coaches; attends conference meetings; ensures VHSL compliance
• Cares for athletes and injured athletes; maintains inventories and equipment; prepares award lists
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal or Athletic Director
