Responsibilities

• Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for individual and team success.
• Fosters moral values, work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self‑discipline, leadership, and self‑confidence.
• Increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and community.
• Supervise practices, games, trips, locker rooms, and athletic facilities.
• Update knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and stay open to new ideas.
• Coordinate with Varsity Head Coach on uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Adhere to athletic department and school policies and report issues to leadership.
• Keep Varsity Head Coach updated during the season on issues and highlights.
• Develop weekly communications plan for parents and faculty.
• Follow Student Protection Policy procedures and training.

Position Purpose

The Upper School Assistant Coach will support the Varsity Head Coach for all aspects of the assigned sport in Upper School.

Essential Functions

• Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
• Provides instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self‑discipline, leadership, and self‑confidence.
• Increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program as well as the school community.
• Supervise all practices, games, team trips, locker rooms, and athletic facilities.
• Updates knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine latest ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general.
• Coordinates with the Varsity Head Coach in uniform and equipment maintenance as well as inventory.
• Adheres to policies within the athletic department and school to address issues or concerns.
• Updates the Varsity Head Coach frequently during the season about any issues, concerns, and/or highlights.
• Develop a weekly communication plan for parents and faculty.
• Adheres to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and training.
• Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school.
