Job description

Variant Assessment Scientist II: Oncology - Remote, USA

Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000 per year. Eligible for a Short-Term Incentive Plan with a target of 7.5% of annual earnings; terms apply.

Responsibilities

• Analyze variants of diagnostic molecular genetic test results.
• Review published literature, clinical data, and evaluate functional and in silico data for clinical interpretation.
• Collaborate on research articles with medical professionals and colleagues.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor and with increasing seniority.

Essential Functions

• Interpret molecular test results and review relevant medical literature.
• Update variant classification guidelines and develop gene-specific guidelines.
• Research new methods to assess sequence variants.
• Manage workflows to ensure timely reporting within published turn-around times.
• Train new team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• PhD and/or MD in molecular genetics, human genetics, molecular pathology, or related field; MS in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in variant assessment.
• Strong knowledge of human genetics principles.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred

• Experience in variant assessment and reporting.
• PhD degree preferred.
• Oncology experience.
