Under general supervision, advances Dataworks’ broad capabilities to use and deploy cutting edge data science and machine learning tools and methods in Dataworks projects, platforms and products. Anchors current best practices by supporting the design and build of reusable data science assets. Simultaneously works to keep Dataworks on the bleeding edge by understanding the latest and most sophisticated methods and tools for handling large-scale and complex problems. Applies descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive and ensemble modeling, statistical techniques, and database tools in the analysis of complex business situations. Provides recommendations for moderately complex issues based on data scientific methods and machine learning/data engineering practices. Collaborates with peer data scientists.
The Data Scientist II plays a pivotal role, focusing on delivering data science innovation, defining and building the Dataworks organization, and executing key business initiatives. Acts as a translator between IT, business, software engineers, and data engineers, working with multidisciplinary teams. Contributes to technical standards for data science and machine learning, including designing reusable data assets. Works with large datasets and solves analytical problems using advanced methods. Executes solutions from concept to production, evaluating trends and developing insights. Involves code development and medium-scale deployments daily.
Master’s Degree or equivalent in computer science, operations research, statistics, applied mathematics, or related field.
Two years of applying data science, operations research, and data analytics to reduce costs, increase profitability, and improve customer experience. Familiarity with end-to-end analysis, data gathering, processing, analysis, and presentation. Understanding of the transportation industry, competitors, and evolving tech. Experience in multi-functional teams. Strong communication skills.
This position can be domiciled anywhere in the U.S., with potential for remote work based on business needs.
