Job Summary

Group Fitness Instructors will teach aerobic‑based group fitness classes at the City of Lakewood recreation centers and the Clements Community Center. The position is supervised by the Fitness Specialist and Fitness Coordinator and may involve assisting in a variety of areas as needed.

Employment Type

This is a variable, at‑will position. Scheduling is based on business needs and the role may be seasonal or temporary. The position is part‑time and non‑benefitted.

Responsibilities

• Instruct fitness classes such as low‑impact aerobics, senior exercise programs (including Silver Sneakers), circuit training, and strength training.
• Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form.
• Enforce policies and procedures in group fitness activity areas.
• Execute the risk management plan.
• Maintain group exercise certifications.

Qualifications

• Certifications: ACE, AFAA, ACSM, and YMCA.
• Minimum 6 months teaching experience with diverse populations.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Strong knowledge of exercise contraindications and safety concerns.
• Strong customer‑service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and a time‑entry system.
