Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Van Driver to support the Child Development and After School programs. The driver will transport children from school to the afterschool program and help maintain safe, clean vehicles while following program schedules.

Candidates must have a clean driving record, a 7D or school bus license, and a valid driver’s license with at least three years of experience. First Aid/CPR certification within six months is required, and the YMCA offers comprehensive

Qualifications

• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must have a 7D or school bus license to drive the YMCA van.
• Must be at least 21 years of age, and have a Driver’s License for at least three years.
• Knowledge of State and Federal driving rules and regulations.
• Must be committed to the philosophy and goals of the YMCA.
• Must possess effective leadership skills and crisis management skills.
• Must possess and utilize excellent organizational skills.
• Must possess First Aid and CPR certifications within the first six months of employment.
• Demonstrate effective verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport children from school to the afterschool program.
• Routine upkeep of YMCA vehicles; refueling, basic operational checks, and interior cleanliness.
• Communicate with YMCA Site Coordinators/Directors and Program Administrators to facilitate timely pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Manage children in the vehicle and coordinate attendance after driving duties.
• Sign in/out program participants and greet families entering the Y facility.

Compensation: $18.00 - $23.00 / hour

Description

The Van Driver is essential to the daily programming and operations of Child Development and Out of School Time Program. Each Van Driver is responsible for maintaining transportation of children from school to the afterschool program.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

• Effective interaction and communication with a wide range of internal staff and outside entities.
• Transport children from school to the afterschool program.
• Routine upkeep of YMCA vehicles; including but not limited to refueling, basic operational checks, and maintaining interior cleanliness.
• Communicate clearly with YMCA Site Coordinators/Directors and Program Administrators to facilitate timely pick-ups and drop-offs and to manage children in the vehicle.
• Maintain program attendance after driving duties are completed.
• Sign in/out program participants and greet families entering Y facility.
