Job summary

West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA is seeking a reliable van driver for approximately 5–6 hours per week: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 2:30–3:30 pm and Wed 12:00–1:00 pm.

Provides safe transportation to and from program sites, performs before-and-after trip checks, logs mileage and gas, and maintains a clean vehicle.

A 7D license is required; CPR and First Aid certifications are due within 30 days of hire. We offer an inclusive, welcoming culture and a free YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• Possess appropriate class license (7D License).
• Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to 7D passenger vehicles.
• Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization. Learning about our initiatives and being able to vocalize with members if needed.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.
• Desire and ability to work with children.
• Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

• Drives van safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
• Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out van each day.
• Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
• Active support of our DEIB statement and putting into practice our commitment to equity, diversity, belonging and inclusion. Continue to think about strategies to support diversity goals of the organization.
• Ensures that van rules are announced and followed.
• Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, teachers and children.
• Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.

We are looking for a reliable individual to drive the WSY van for approximately 1 hour a day: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2:30-3:30 pm and Wednesday, 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm for a total of 5-6 hours per week. A 7D license is required to drive the WSY van.
