Position Details

Multiple vacancies for part-time and full-time Van Drivers within the Office of Business Services at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. The Van Driver is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation for students throughout Montgomery County, PA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid PA Driver's License
• At least three (3) years of professional driving experience with a clean MVR
• Knowledge of safety regulations
• Ability to operate a van, drive all posted routes, and perform physical duties
• Compliance with MCIU drug and alcohol policies and participation in random drug testing
• Original certificates of clearance from State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI

Responsibilities

1. Operate school vans safely and in compliance with all DOT regulations
2. Follow safety and traffic laws
3. Maintain student order and discipline per MCIU policies
4. Map out efficient routes using GPS
5. Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections
6. Follow routes as directed and maintain logs
7. Communicate with parents/guardians about routes
8. Keep vans clean and fueled
9. Report repair needs and assist children with boarding, securement, and wheelchair handling
10. Maintain professional interactions and report accidents
11. Attend training and notify supervisors of violations
12. Handle clerical tasks and coordinate routes
13. Present a positive image of the organization
14. Provide additional support as needed
15. Perform other duties as assigned

Location & Travel

Based at 2 West Lafayette Street, Norristown, PA, with travel throughout Montgomery County.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 194 days/year. Part-Time: 4-6 hours/day; Full-Time: 7.5 hours/day, with some classroom support for full-time drivers.

Compensation

Starting at $23.75/hour.
