Gerald Industries, A DEMA Company in Gerald, Missouri, is hiring a Valve Assembler (1st Shift) to build and test finished units from components, following engineering drawings and standard work. You will assemble, test, and verify each unit before it goes to a customer, using hand tools, torque wrenches, gauges, and inspection procedures.

This onsite, day-shift role features a 4½‑day work week with no nights, on‑the‑job training, and cross-training across product lines.

When It Leaves Your Bench, a Customer Is Counting on It

Somewhere out there, a commercial kitchen, a laundry, or a beverage line is going to depend on the unit you put together today. Nobody is going to check your work twice. You're going to check it - assemble it, test it, and decide it's right before it goes anywhere.

That's what makes this job different from a lot of assembly work. You're not doing one step over and over. You take components and subassemblies and turn them into a finished product, then you run the tests that prove it works. When something doesn't behave the way it should, you're the one who figures out why. We'll teach you the products, the tools, and the tests. What you bring is the judgment to slow down when something feels off.

What You'll Earn

• $17.10/hour starting base pay
• Additional $1.00/hour Perfect Attendance Incentive for eligible employees - up to $18.10/hour*

What You'll Actually Do

You'll take a product from loose components to tested, customer-ready - and you'll sign off on it.

• Build complete products by integrating components, subassemblies, and hardware to spec
• Read and work from engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and standard work
• Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, gauges, and assembly fixtures
• Run required functional tests - including pressure, leak, and operational checks - and record the results
• Troubleshoot units that don't test right, and make adjustments within established procedures
• Know when to fix it yourself and when to raise your hand - that judgment matters here
• Document defects and nonconforming conditions clearly so they get resolved, not repeated
• Verify the finished product is complete and correct before it moves on or ships
• Prepare completed products for packaging or the next process
• Keep your workstation clean, organized, and safe (5S)

What You Bring

Required

• Ability to read and follow written work instructions, assembly diagrams, and drawings
• Ability to use common hand tools and power tools safely
• Willingness to learn and follow product test procedures exactly as written
• Basic math - measuring, comparing, recording
• Basic computer skills to access documentation and enter production or test records
• Willingness to work across different product lines as production needs change

Helpful, But We'll Train You

• High school diploma or GED (an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is also considered)
• Previous manufacturing, assembly, mechanical, maintenance, or skilled-trade experience
• Experience reading engineering drawings or blueprints
• Experience with torque tools, calipers, micrometers, or gauges
• Any background in functional, pressure, or leak testing

As you learn more product lines, you become the person the department relies on when a difficult build or a stubborn test failure lands on the bench - and the person we ask to train the next new hire. That opens doors here: into other assembly areas, and toward roles in quality, testing, and lead positions.

There's no automatic timeline and no guaranteed step. What we can tell you is that your supervisor will talk with you about how you're doing and what to work on next, and that people who ask for more work and learn more products are the ones who tend to go further.

About the Work Environment

This is a manufacturing plant, and we'd rather you know what that means before you apply. You'll be on your feet at a workstation or assembly cell for most of the shift. It's loud enough in places that hearing protection is required. Temperatures follow the seasons. Safety glasses and sturdy closed-toe shoes are required in production areas, and the work involves oils, lubricants, sealants, and adhesives common to assembly.

Because this role includes product testing, you'll work around compressed air, pneumatic equipment, and pressurized systems. We train on hazardous-energy control and test procedures, and we expect them followed every time - no shortcuts, no exceptions.

The work regularly involves standing for extended periods, reaching, and using your hands and fingers for detailed assembly. You'll frequently lift or move materials up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds using available material-handling equipment. Close vision, depth perception, and color differentiation are needed for assembly, inspection, and testing.
