Job summary

IDEX is seeking a Lean Operations Leader in Maryland to direct value stream activities across manufacturing, receiving and shipping, driving safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost improvements.

You will coach teams, perform daily lean management, map current and future states, and collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Quality and Engineering to remove constraints and improve flow, applying lean thinking and cost accounting knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering with supervision or manufacturing experience.
  • Associates degree with five years of supervision or manufacturing support.
  • Five years of manufacturing supervision experience.
  • Five years of lean thinking with measurable process improvements.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of cost accounting concepts.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and accountability for manufacturing, receiving, inventory and shipping to ensure safe, high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective execution of objectives.
  • Conducts lean daily management value stream walks to identify flow disruptions and verify standard work.
  • Coaches employees, reviews defect data, defines problem statements, and engages operators for improvements.
  • Improves safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity and cost metrics.
  • Coordinates cross-functional activities to resolve constraints and maintain flow across departments.
  • Works with suppliers and customers to implement material pull processes.
  • Establishes and drives Kanban, outside processing, and point-of-use material improvements.
  • Ensures receiving and shipping support accurate inventory and timely customer shipments.
  • Improves build-to-order finished goods strategy.
  • Develops current, future, and next-state value stream maps to set metrics and solve problems.
  • Delivers transformational impact leveraging Lean Daily Management metrics.
  • Builds teams and develops skills in value streams.
  • Manages the value stream to maintain policies.
  • Owns safety and 5S in the operation area.

Leads assigned value stream operations, including manufacturing, receiving, and shipping. Drives safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory performance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement through Lean practices and effective team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and accountability for manufacturing, receiving, Inventory and shipping activities to ensure safe, high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective execution of organizational objectives.
  • Conducts lean daily management value stream walks to identify flow disruptions, review issue boards, and verify adherence to standard work instructions.
  • Coaches employees, reviews defect data, formulate problem statements and engages operators to identify disruptions and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Improves key performance metrics, including safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity and cost.
  • Coordinates cross-functional activities between Production, Inventory, Supply Chain, Receiving, Shipping, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and customer-facing teams to resolve constraints and maintain operational flow.
  • Works with suppliers and customers to implement material pull processes.
  • Establish and drive improvement to kanban, outside processing, and point-of-use material processes.
  • Ensures receiving and shipping processes support accurate inventory transactions, timely material availability, and reliable customer shipments.
  • Improves build-to-order finished goods strategy.
  • Formulate effective problem statements and develops current, future, and next-state value stream maps to establish key metrics and solve problems.
  • Delivers transformational impact to customers and business while leveraging Lean Daily Management metrics within the value stream .
  • Builds teams and develops employee skills in assigned value stream areas.
  • Manages the value stream organization to develop and administer consistent departmental and corporate policies.
  • Owns safety and 5S in the operational value stream area.

Education And/Or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering with at least three (3) year demonstrated success in supervision or manufacturing technical support. OR
  • Associates Degree in Business or Engineering with at least five (5) years demonstrated success in supervision or manufacturing technical support OR
  • At least five (5) years demonstrated success in manufacturing supervision OR
  • At least five (5) years of demonstrated success being a lean thinker and lean process implementation, with measurable evidence of process improvement, and flow velocity throughout the value stream.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated computer literacy especially working with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to understand and apply basic cost accounting concepts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $109,800.00 - $164,600.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
