Job summary

VIPCARE in Daphne, AL is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under a physician or APP. You will prepare patients, assist during exams, document encounters in the EMR, and help coordinate care within a value-based program that emphasizes quality outcomes and preventive care.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, MA certification or ongoing training, 1+ year of MA experience, CPR/BLS, phlebotomy, and EMR proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent certification).
• 1+ year of MA experience in a physician practice, outpatient, or ambulatory care setting preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification required or obtained within organizational guidelines.
• IV Therapy certification preferred, where permitted by state regulations.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and CLIA regulations.
• Experience using electronic medical records (EMRs).
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides).
• Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and creating a positive patient experience.
• Appreciation for cultural diversity and sensitivity to Medicare and patient populations served.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and prepare them for provider examinations by documenting history and current information in the EMR.
• Measure, document, and report vital signs and clinical observations.
• Prepare patients and examination rooms for provider visits.
• Assist providers during examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures.
• Explain instructions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care to patients.
• Provide compassionate, professional service that promotes a positive patient experience.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the provider and state regulations.
• Assist with wound care, IV infusions, and in-office procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for testing.
• Conduct in-office diagnostic testing (EKGs, vision screenings, etc.).
• Complete laboratory quality controls and maintain testing logs.
• Maintain infection prevention standards for equipment and rooms.
• Document patient encounters and communications in the EMR.
• Coordinate outbound/inbound communications for reminders and preventive care outreach.
