Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of formal advanced educational training in accounting, auditing, business administration or a related field.
• Two years of experience in performing property appraisals and value determinations.
• Three years of experience in performing property appraisals and value determinations at the San Benito County Assessors Office or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
• Possession of a valid Appraiser's Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization.
• Possession of an Advanced Appraiser's Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply the techniques of real property appraisal for tax assessment purposes.
• Inspect buildings and improvements to determine value and classification.
• Prepare maps, sketches, and supporting reports for property valuations.
• Explain assessment procedures, value determinations, laws to the public, and defend challenged assessments.
• Assist with training new staff and support complex or special appraisal projects.
