Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking an Associate to join its Business Valuation practice in New York. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with in-office presence required two days per week.

You will perform valuation analyses for financial reporting, tax planning, and transactions, building models and delivering client-ready reports. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of valuation experience, strong modeling abilities in Excel, and familiarity with DCF, guideline companies, and precedent

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field with strong academics.
• Approximately 2-5 years of experience in business valuation or related fields.
• Strong understanding of DCF, guideline public company, and precedent transaction analyses.
• Advanced financial modeling and Excel; proficiency in PowerPoint and Word required.
• Experience preparing valuation reports and client-facing deliverables preferred.
• Progress toward CFA, CPA, ASA, or ABV is preferred.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Execute valuation engagements for financial reporting, tax planning, transactions, and litigation support.
• Perform detailed financial analysis and evaluate historical and projected performance.
• Build and review valuation models using common methodologies.
• Analyze forecasts, financial statements, budgets, and operations.
• Conduct industry and market research to support conclusions.
• Identify comparable companies and relevant market transactions.
• Prepare reports and client presentations; respond to inquiries.
• Participate in client meetings, due diligence, and management interviews.
• Support engagement management, workflow, and communication with clients.
• Assist with business development, proposals, and pitch materials.
