Job summary

Base is seeking a Validation Technician to build test infrastructure for hardware and software deployments. You’ll turn engineering designs into physical benches and fixtures, from low-voltage harnesses to 240/480V power circuits, ready to run around the clock.

You’ll document builds to enable fast replication, collaborate with engineering on what to fabricate in-house or outsource, and ensure safety and quality across test systems.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on wiring experience including cutting, stripping, labeling and documenting.
  • Experience building both low-voltage harnesses and 240/480V power circuits.
  • Experience designing or fabricating enclosures, mounting brackets, or racking systems.
  • Comfort with power tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Apprenticeships or trade training count toward qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Build and wire test benches and fixtures, from signal-level harnesses to 240/480V power circuits
  • Document every build so a station can be replicated quickly as we add capacity
  • Design and fabricate enclosures, mounting brackets, and racking systems built to run continuously, 24/7
  • Decide when to fabricate a part in-house and when to send it out, and make sure it’s built right either way
  • Keep test systems running and ready for engineering and automated testing, 24/7
  • Follow wiring schematics and match workmanship, safety, and inspection standards to the job

Job description

About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Validation Technician to build the test infrastructure that lets Base ship new hardware and software with confidence. You’ll turn engineering designs into physical test benches and fixtures - from low-voltage signal harnesses to 240/480V power circuits - built to run around the clock.

As Base’s fleet grows, we need more test capacity, fast. Every station you build should be documented well enough that the next one goes up in days, not weeks - no re-engineering the fixture from scratch each time. You’ll work closely with engineering to know what to build, when to fabricate in-house, and when to send a part out.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and wire test benches and fixtures, from signal-level harnesses to 240/480V power circuits
  • Document every build so a station can be replicated quickly as we add capacity
  • Design and fabricate enclosures, mounting brackets, and racking systems built to run continuously, 24/7
  • Decide when to fabricate a part in-house and when to send it out, and make sure it’s built right either way
  • Keep test systems running and ready for engineering and automated testing, 24/7
  • Follow wiring schematics and match workmanship, safety, and inspection standards to the job - low-voltage signal work and 240/480V power work each have their own

What You'll Bring

  • Hands-on experience wiring harnesses: cutting, stripping, labeling, and documenting the work so someone else can build it the same way
  • Experience building both a low-voltage signal harness from a schematic and a 240/480V power circuit
  • Experience designing or fabricating enclosures, mounting brackets, or racking systems
  • Comfort with power tools and fabrication equipment of all kinds
  • A team-first mentality and goal-oriented drive: you take on what’s needed and speak up about priorities rather than talking poorly about past teams
  • 1-3 years in electrical work, fabrication, motorsports, aerospace, or a similar hands-on technical role. Apprenticeships and trade training count

About the Team

The validation team builds and maintains the test infrastructure Base depends on to validate new hardware and software before it reaches the field. Every battery and every piece of software Base ships gets proven out on a bench or fixture this team built first. As the fleet grows, so does the number of stations we need - our job is to make sure adding capacity means building the next station from a documented, proven design, not starting over. You’ll work across signal-level wiring and 240/480V power, and see your fixes and builds running in the background of everything Base ships.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
Do the best work of your life at Base.
