Job summary

Consulting Solutions is seeking a Dev/Research Engineer 2 to support hands-on testing and validation of large mining equipment and subsystems in Tucson, AZ. This is a full-time onsite role with approximately 20% office work and 80% hands-on work in the shop or local field environment.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in engineering and 1–2 years of relevant experience, with a strong interest in hands-on mechanical systems, testing, and problem solving.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of relevant experience; engineering internships may be considered.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, equipment, vehicles, construction, or similar applications.
• Experience with troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods and in varied conditions, including hot, cold, dusty, indoor, and outdoor environments.
• Willingness and ability to work extensively around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and document machine-level testing and validation activities.
• Support testing of large mining equipment, machine systems, and subsystems.
• Develop test plans and testing strategies based on engineering and customer requirements.
• Perform system-level testing and validate machine and software functionality.
• Conduct checkouts, validation activities, data acquisition, and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues affecting machine and subsystem operation.
• Analyze test results and communicate findings, recommendations, and potential issues to engineering teams.
• Work closely with engineers, mechanics, operators, instrumentation technicians, supply chain, and logistics personnel.
• Collaborate with team leaders to coordinate day-to-day testing activities and ensure projects remain on schedule.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Follow established safety procedures and champion continuous improvement in testing activities.
• Safely operate equipment following appropriate training.
• Work effectively in shop and field environments while wearing required PPE.

• Previous hands-on experience as a mechanic, construction worker, equipment technician, or in a similar mechanical environment.
• Experience coordinating or directing day-to-day work activities.
