Job summary

Diamond Parking is seeking a friendly Valet Attendant to provide courteous vehicle assistance, manage arrivals and departures, and uphold safety standards.

You will perform vehicle checks, handle transactions, clock in/out, and maintain professional appearance in a team-oriented environment.

This onsite role requires reliable attendance, valid driver's license, and the ability to work around varying weather while delivering excellent guest service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–3 months of related experience or training desirable.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Pass a company driving skills test.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous and professional relationship with customers, vendors, co-workers, and managers.
  • Properly clock in/out at scheduled times and submit timecards.
  • Drive, park, and retrieve customer vehicles with efficiency and professionalism.
  • Report damages or claims and complete incident reports.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of designated locations; report hazards.
  • Wear uniform and maintain professional appearance.

Valet Attendant

Department: Operations
Reports To: Area Manager / Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Union)
Work Schedule: Required to work during normal business hours. Any overtime must be pre-approved.
Work Location: In-person at onsite work facility

Position Overview

The Valet Attendant is responsible for providing valet parking services in assigned parking lots, garages, or facilities. This role ensures professional handling of customer vehicles, upholding safety standards, maintaining operational efficiency, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service & Professionalism
    • Provide a courteous and professional relationship with all customers, vendors, co-workers, and managers.
    • Maintain visibility and engage with guests or tenants to provide assistance and information.
  • Transaction & Cash Handling
    • Properly collect, record, and deposit all monies received during each shift.
    • Ensure financial accuracy and secure handling of funds.
  • Valet & Vehicle Handling
    • Drive, park, and retrieve customer vehicles upon arrival and departure with efficiency and professionalism.
    • Conduct visual checks on vehicles for dents, scratches, or other damage, recording any pre-existing conditions on the customer's claim ticket.
    • Immediately report damages or customer claims and complete an incident report.
  • Facility Maintenance & Safety Compliance
    • Maintain cleanliness of designated locations, ensuring trash and debris are regularly removed throughout the day.
    • Report potholes, missing signage, or other hazards to a supervisor.
    • Identify and report vehicles meeting impound criteria to the supervisor.
    • Patrol parking areas to prevent thefts and ensure compliance with parking regulations.
  • Operations & Timekeeping Compliance
    • Accurately clock in/out at scheduled work times using the designated timekeeping system.
    • Submit completed timecards per payroll requirements.
  • Appearance & Conduct
    • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times.
    • Wear the designated uniform (if required) and display identification badge.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct managerial responsibilities but serves as a lead role in ensuring valet operations run smoothly.

Required Qualifications
  • Education/Experience
    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • One to three months of related experience or training desirable.
    • Comfortable with data entry using electronic devices.
  • Licenses
    • Valid state‑issued driver's license and proof of insurance.
    • Must be able to pass a company driving skills test.
  • Language Skills
    • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
    • Ability to effectively communicate in one‑on‑one and small group situations with customers, clients, and co‑workers.
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
    • Competence in computing parking costs, making change, and using an adding machine, calculator, or cash register as required.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to apply common sense when performing duties and following written and oral instructions.
    • Ability to address problems involving a few variables in standard situations.

  • Physical Requirements

    • Noise levels vary from moderate to occasionally loud.

  • Must be able to transfer or relocate to another facility/location without notice as needed.
  • This position may require travel between Canada and the USA for business purposes.

  • Failing an internal audit may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
