Anne Arundel County is seeking a Full-Time Safety Sensitive Vacuum/Rodder Operator in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Highways. You will operate the Tandem Vacuum/Rodder Truck and related heavy equipment to remove silt and debris from storm drains and pipes.
Candidates need two+ years in maintenance and operation of public works equipment, plus a valid CDL with code N. The role requires adherence to safety rules; longevity pay is available based on years of service.
This posting will be used to fill a Full-Time, Safety Sensitive, Vacuum/Rodder Operator position in the Department of Public Works, Bureau of Highways for Anne Arundel County Government. This is skilled work in the operation of the Tandem Vacuum/Rodder Truck and medium to heavy automotive and related equipment.
Work involves responsibility for safe and efficient operations of the Vacuum/Rodder Truck and related equipment requiring considerable manipulative skills to operate. Cargo will include silt and debris collected from drainage structures and pipe systems. Operation of assigned equipment is normally a full-time task. However, work of a general laboring nature is performed as required. Guidance and direction is provided to employees of same or lower level. Work is performed independently in accordance with established policies and procedures. Plan, organize and direct preventative maintenance to closed storm draining systems.

Operation of Vacuum/Rodder Truck removing silt and debris from storm drain structures. Operates Vacuum/Rodder in pressure cleaning storm drain pipes and cleaning and inspection of all drainage structures. Service, maintain and assist mechanics in performing general maintenance and repairs to medium to heavy duty automotive equipment. Performs related work below classification as required.
Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and limited construction of public works and facilities; plus two (2) or more years of experience in the operation of light to medium duty motor equipment.
Additional Requirements: A valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license (CDL) with code "N" tank vehicle.
NOTE: This position is Safety Sensitive and employees in this position are subject to Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) and Alcohol Testing.
NOTE: Longevity pay is available based on years of service.
