Job summary

County seeks a skilled equipment operator to drive tandem dump trucks and operate heavy machinery for stormwater facility projects. Includes routine inspections, light maintenance, and loading duties. Willingness to work on-call and variable shifts, with snow removal duties in winter.

Requires a Class A CDL with air brake certification and a good driving record. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Comprehensive benefits available.

Responsibilities

• Operate a tandem dump truck for hauling materials and transporting equipment.
• Perform routine DOT pre-trip inspections.
• Operate heavy and light equipment for stormwater facility construction and maintenance.
• Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assist with loading/unloading of materials and equipment.
• May perform snow removal and other duties as assigned during inclement weather.

Performs manual labor and operates tandem dump trucks and heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of stormwater facilities. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs manual labor and operates tandem dump trucks and heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of stormwater facilities. Services and makes minor repairs to equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary will depend on qualifications and applications will be reviewed weekly

Essential Job Functions

• Operates a tandem dump truck used for hauling materials and transporting equipment
• Performs routine pre-trip DOT inspections.
• Operates heavy and small equipment used to maintain and construct stormwater facilities and to remove snow.
• Understands and follows all safety requirements
• Performs heavy manual labor needed for construction of storm water projects, snow removal, debris clearing in creeks and streams.
• Operates variety of power tools to include chain saws, pipe saws, mowers, weed trimmers, aerator, drills, dampers, augers, pumps, and wood working tools.
• Applies fertilizer, weed killers and other compounds.
• Performs routine maintenance service and repair to equipment.
• Assists in loading and unloading transported material and equipment.
• Subject to twenty-four (24) hour stand‑by may occasionally work varied and/or extended shifts as assigned.
• During inclement weather will be assigned snow removal duties at County facilities

Requirements/Preferences

Education

Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Required: Some experience in the operation of motorized equipment.

Certifications/ Licenses

Required: Class A commercial driver's license with an air brake certification and have a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Good knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing trucks and other construction and maintenance equipment; and of traffic rules and regulations.
• Ability to operate several types of trucks and construction equipment; make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; follow oral and written instructions; perform 24 hour on‑call responsibilities and work varied shifts as assigned; and to perform other duties as assigned when not operating equipment.

Subject to a complete criminal history background search with acceptable results. Following a conditional offer of employment, must pass a post offer physical examination. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description.
