Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is offering a scientific Co-op opportunity within the Vaccines and Advanced Biotechnologies Process Research & Development division.

Under a mentor, you will perform benchwork to optimize unit operations, analyze results, and contribute to development and scale-up efforts for vaccine purification processes. This paid co-op runs for 4-6 months in 2027, with hybrid work arrangements and strong emphasis on laboratory safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a BS/BA program in a relevant field.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks, and keep accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct benchwork to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot downstream process unit operations and basic analytical techniques.
• Design, execute, and analyze process development experiments to understand purification bioprocesses.
• Contribute to scale-up of processes to pilot and manufacturing scales and technology transfer.
• Summarize and present results in a collaborative team environment.
