Job summary

Windwave Communications is seeking an experienced Vac Truck Operator to support civil, utility, and telecommunications work. You will operate hydro-vac and vacuum excavation equipment for daylighting, potholing, and non-destructive excavation on active construction sites.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of hydro-vac experience, hold a Class A/B CDL with tanker endorsement, and a current DOT Medical Card. You will read plans and utility marks, work safely, and coordinate with crews and utility

Qualifications

• Must hold Class A or Class B CDL with tanker endorsement.
• DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one.
• 2+ years operating hydro-vac or vacuum excavation equipment.
• Experience around underground utilities and active construction sites.
• Ability to read utility locate markings and construction plans.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate hydro-vac and vacuum excavation equipment.
• Perform daylighting, potholing, and utility locating support.
• Read utility locate markings and construction drawings.
• Collaborate with crews, locators, and utility owners.
• Support trenching while protecting underground infrastructure.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintenance.
• Identify and report equipment or mechanical issues.
• Complete job tickets, inspections, logs, and excavation documentation.
• Follow OSHA/DOT safety requirements and procedures.
• Assist with traffic control and emergency response when needed.
