Job summary

The Bair Foundation seeks a State Director of Virginia to lead statewide operations, supervise regional and local directors, and ensure safety and compliance across programs. You will shape outcomes, drive growth, and build trusted relationships with state agencies and partners.

Lead with vision, safeguard children, and drive performance while expanding services. A Doctorate or Master’s in Social Work is preferred, with casework leadership experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctorate or Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university (Council on Social Work Education) OR a related field as listed.
• Leadership experience: administrator or supervisor of casework services.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead statewide operations by supervising regional and local directors.
• Ensure compliance with Virginia regulations and accreditation standards.
• Monitor statewide outcomes and program quality; implement improvement plans.
• Develop budgets, drive growth, and expand programs without compromising care.
• Build and maintain partnerships with Virginia DSS, legislators, and community partners.

Job description

As State Director of Virginia, you will lead statewide operations to ensure children and families receive the highest quality of care. You’ll oversee regional and local directors, drive compliance with Virginia regulations and COA standards, and safeguard client safety through strong oversight and swift action. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on guidance—you will shape outcomes, manage growth, and build trusted relationships with Virginia’s child welfare agencies and community partners. With your leadership, you’ll inspire teams to deliver services that align with The Bair Foundation’s mission of hope and healing.

Work Location: Virginia Statewide Leadership. Offices in Lynchburg, Richmond and Virginia Beach.

Job Qualifications: WHAT YOU BRING (Basic qualifications)

• Education:Doctorate or Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university (Council on Social Work Education) OR a Doctorate/Master’s in a related field such as sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling
• Experience:Casework experience with children and families (minimum 3–4 years depending on degree)
• Leadership:At least 1 year of experience as an administrator or supervisor of casework services
• Other:Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
