Job summary

Peraton in Reston, VA seeks a UX/UI and 508 Compliance Engineer to support a federal IAM modernization program. You will lead user experience design, UI development, and accessibility across public-facing and internal IAM platforms.

The role combines research, wireframes, prototypes, automated accessibility testing, and collaboration with Agile teams to ensure WCAG AA and Section 508 compliance. Strong communication with product owners is essential.

Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 12 years with a high school diploma/equivalent.
Experience spanning UX/UI design, UI visual production, and Section 508 accessibility testing; depth in all three areas preferred.
Experience designing UIs and producing visual comps, wireframes, and prototypes for large-scale, public-facing web apps.
Hands-on experience with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA testing using automated tools and manual testing.
Proficiency with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack) for cross-browser/platform testing.

Responsibilities

Lead UX/UI design activities across Agile/Scrum development sprints.
Conduct discovery for diverse user populations including external users and internal staff.
Develop and maintain user research artifacts, wireframes, prototypes, and concept validation deliverables.
Validate new features and UX changes; obtain Product Manager approval prior to implementation.
Support usability testing and ensure artifacts are available at sprint closes.
Design interfaces and deliver visual mockups for IAM portals and related web apps.
Develop and contribute new reusable components to the Design System.
Ensure interfaces are mobile/tablet-optimized and bilingual where required.
Adhere to Brand Style Guide and participate in quarterly brand working group meetings.
