About the role:
The UX/UI Developer will play a key role in designing and building a user-friendly, accessible, and intuitive interface for both public- and internal-facing websites. This role will be responsible for defining and executing user research, building prototypes, and ensuring WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Location: Remote
Project Duration: 2.5 years, with potential for extension
What you'll do:
Define, plan, and conduct user research throughout the SDLC beginning in the discovery phase
Create research guides and conduct iterative user research sessions
Develop personas, journey maps, interview guides, mind maps, and research finding documents
Design prototypes using standard UX/UI tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, and InVision
Create intuitive, responsive browser-agnostic application flows
Translate creative software design concepts into fully functional front-end experiences
Ensure that new UI/UX designs meet client, local, state, and federal accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Work closely with Full Stack Developers to integrate front-end features and user interface enhancements
What you'll need:
Experience: 8+ years of experience in UX/UI design and front-end development
Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Sketch, InVision, and Adobe XD, REACT, ANGULAR
Expertise in conducting user research and producing related deliverables including but not limited to personas, journey maps, interview guides, mind maps, and research finding documents
Expertise in using standard UX/UI software such as Sketch, InVision, and Adobe XD to create intuitive application prototypes driven by best practices around Human-Centered Design and in compliance to WCAG 2.0
Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to create responsive, browser agnostic prototypes
Deep understanding of Human-Centered Design principles
Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices
Experience working with New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) or other municipal agencies is a plus
