Pulse Labs is seeking a UX Researcher (Moderation Specialist) in Atlanta to plan and moderate qualitative studies, including IDIs and focus groups, often with in-vehicle sessions, to uncover actionable insights for tech clients.

This short-term contract runs November 2–30, 2026, with flexible hours around client needs. You will work closely with clients and fellow researchers to deliver Toplines, executive summaries, and final reports, helping shape product strategy and customer experiences.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a relevant field with hands-on UX research experience.
  • 3+ years in qualitative research and moderation (IDI/focus groups).
  • Experience in agency/consulting and with startups/FAANG-level clients.
  • Strong report writing and ability to present findings to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage research projects with client-defined goals and timelines.
  • Moderate in-vehicle research and coordinate with a note-taker/tech specialist.
  • Ensure sound methodology and analysis across studies.
  • Prepare moderator guides and visual aids.
  • Produce Toplines, Scorecards, Exec Summaries, Final Reports, Slide Decks.
  • Present findings to Directors/VPs and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Panel and Research Ops for data quality.

UX Researcher (Moderation Specialist)

We're looking for a UX Researcher with expertise in moderating qualitative research (e.g., IDIs and focus groups) to uncover meaningful user insights that shape product strategy, design decisions, and customer experience. Working directly with clients, you will help them design and execute qualitative research and will be a team-player who is an integral member of a talented and dedicated group of fellow UX researchers and analysts working in a fast-paced, rapid-response environment where rigor and quality are paramount. You’ll dive deep into rich video and survey data to analyze and interpret findings and produce client-ready reports

This is a 100% full-time (i.e., 40 hours per week) Atlanta, Georgia based position. At times, you will be required to work before and after standard work hours, including weekends, to ensure quality and on-time client delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with customers to plan research projects according to customer requirements, timelines, and business goals.
  • Moderate in-vehicle research while participants drive around the city/suburbs, alongside an assistant who will serve as note-taker and tech specialist.
  • Execute research projects ensuring sound research methodology and analysis.
  • Moderate IDIs and focus groups, including preparing moderator guides and visual aids.
  • Create compelling Toplines, Scorecards, Executive Summaries, Final Reports, Slide Decks, etc.
  • Provide support to customers throughout the research planning, execution, and delivery process that may include presenting research findings up to the Director or VP level.
  • Work closely with the Panel and Research Operations team members assigned to your projects to ensure execution is on track and data collected aligns with the requirements.
  • Analyze research study responses from participant videos and transcripts, surveys, and other study data to develop key research findings and recommendations for customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree
  • Experience working in an agency or consulting environment conducting research.
  • Experience working at or with early-to-mid stage startups.
  • Experience working at or with FAANG/top tech companies.
  • 3+ years working in a qualitative research role in a detail-oriented research operations environment.
  • 3+ years of IDI and focus group moderation experience (remote and in-person).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in both
  • Expertise with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Expertise leading complex, multi-faceted research projects.
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end research lifecycle, including research methods/approaches and common analyses, specifically those related to UX.
  • Prior success maintaining strong relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • High attention to detail and ability to recognize patterns and anomalies in qualitative and/or quantitative data.
  • Ability to translate qualitative insights into actionable recommendations and present in compelling reports.
  • Comfort presenting your own research and research prepared by others to senior-level stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of ownership, transparency, detail-orientedness, and ability to self-initiate.
  • Very comfortable using emerging technologies and different software systems.
  • High comfort working with Google Docs, Google Sheets, or similar products.
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to foster a positive work environment.
  • Experience and comfort working on a team of researchers as well as with operations personnel in a rapid-response, often ambiguous environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in psychology, research methods, human-computer interaction, sociology, or related field.
