Job summary

Exponent, based in Philadelphia, seeks a Scientist (Ph.D.) to lead UX research across consumer electronics, wearables, medical devices, and AI applications. You will uncover usability challenges, inform design improvements, and provide insights into safe and intuitive use.

You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to deliver research-driven insights from study design through data collection and reporting, communicating clearly to diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Developmental, Experimental, or Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, Vision Science, Data Sciences, Biomechanics, or a related discipline
• Currently based in or willing to relocate to the Philadelphia area
• Willingness to travel for research sessions, client meetings, or on-site evaluations
• Breadth of knowledge of scientific literature and ability to adapt expertise to problems
• Strong record designing and executing human subjects research studies
• Experience leading multiple scientific studies from design to results
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship required

Responsibilities

• Reviewing literature, data, and standards to ground research and study design
• Designing and executing primary user research studies including usability testing and surveys
• Performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Providing project management for multiple projects and coordinating teams
• Preparing written reports and communicating analyses to technical and non-technical audiences
• Developing client contacts and supporting proposals in consulting contexts
